From the wooden gate welcoming you to Hikoso-machi KINNOMA, tiled roofing, lattice windows & doors – each element has been carefully preserved, which allows for you to truly appreciate the architecture of these traditional houses.
Located just around the corner from the Asano River, you will be able experience the rich culture of this city firsthand. When reserved with the adjoining machiya house, up to 16 guests can stay together in picturesque Kanazawa.
The Japanese garden that sits in front features bamboo, ume plum blossoms, and the matsu tree – all quintessential greenery to represent the auspicious motif of “sho-chiku-bai” (松竹梅). These three elements represent strength, flexibility, and the tenacity, respectively.
From the living room, you can view another spectacular garden – from the stone-paved pathway to the Shirakawa sand, this one has been designed to be bright & colorful all-year long. The particular Japanese maple variety in this garden bears brightly colored red leaves throughout the year.

Wooden lattice doors & windows provide a quintessential machiya atmosphere. Slide open these doors to reveal a spacious entranceway that feature the bengara plastered walls (ベンガラ漆喰) – a technique used since the Edo Period, and known for its burnt red color.
LIVING ROOM / DINING ROOM
Utilizing the original wooden structure, this open space stretches from the 1st floor all the way to the top to reveal the architectural design and hand-crafted paper lantern – accentuated by red and gold leaf.
In the living room, you will find an inviting sofa, and large TV – perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the city.
A variety of Japanese maple trees decorate the garden. Sit along the engawa veranda seating area, or relax on the sofa seating while appreciating the beautiful view.
A fully functional kitchen is available during your stay. Make light meals using the fresh, local produce during your stay. A table with 6 chairs, and a sofa is available for you to relax and dine with family and friends.
From the wooden bath look out at the Zen rock garden; a minimalistic landscapes created with rocks, moss, and gravel. This is the perfect space to reflect on your day after a day of sightseeing around Kanazawa.
Japanese Room (1st Floor)
Adjacent from the bath area is the okunoma Japanese room (“inner room”) and considered to be the heart of the house. In furthest area of the house, you will find another Japanese room.
This room will offer privacy even when larger groups of family and friends stay together in this house.
Japanese-Style BEDROOMS (2nd Floor)
2 spacious Japanese-style rooms provide you a place to rest during your stay in Kanazawa. The rooms have been painted red, and yellow — simple in decor, but calming and reminiscent of the impressive fall foliage.

Day trips can include stopping by the Kaga hot springs, taste the plethora of seafood found in the Noto region, to the mountainous regions of Takayama & Shirakawa-go.

If you have never tried fu (麩), you are in for a treat — this long-established restaurant has been serving its customers since 1875. A traditionally Japanese ingredient, they can be grilled, stewed, sweet, savory, and more.
⑤ PLAT HOME / プラットホーム
This restaurant specializes in serving Japanese cuisine that pairs well with Japanese sake and variety of alcohol. Located within a renovated warehouse, the interior is decorated with antiques and offers a relaxed atmosphere.
⑥ エリタージュ / Heritage
French cuisine that features seasonal Kanazawa ingredients. Dinner courses start from 1,600 yen.
