瓢簞町、金沢      (Hyoutan-machi, Kanazawa)

This traditional Japanese house is located in an area of Kanazawa known as Hyoutan-machi. The hyoutan, a Japanese gourd, is a motif that is prevalent throughout Japanese culture. A garden plant that was once used as a container for water, alcohol, and seeds (after having been dried out), has long been considered to be an auspicious motif known to bring about good fortune.
USAGI machiya incorporates this detail throughout the house in hopes of bestowing good fortune to all who stay here.
