A city famous for its gold and silver leafing – this machiya house incorporates the vivid “Kanazawa Blue” and silver leafing, while drawing inspiration from the serene, and snowy winter landscapes of this seaside escape.

Marvel at the original framework that has been preserved, which allows for you to truly appreciate the architecture and beauty of this Kanazawa machiya house. The walls have been carefully restored by utilizing modern day materials while using traditional techniques to complete the design.

Hikoso Ginnoma machiya house perfectly exemplifies the mix of traditional and modern history and design.

Take a morning stroll along the Asano River, located just around the corner, or stop by the local bakery to pick-up freshly made bread. You can choose to walk to Kanazawa Castle (a short 15 minute walk), or take the Kanazawa City bus to explore all the attractions this city has to offer.

When reserved with the adjoining machiya house, up to 16 family & friends can experience the culturally-rich city of Kanazawa.

One step inside of this machiya house, and you will be greeted with the bright & vivid “Kanazawa Blue” to transport you a world away.


The floors have been fitted with walnut wood to create warmth within the atmosphere. The sliding doors, feature a unique design of black and waterfall of brilliant silver.

A large antique bureau, TV, wooden table, and glass lighting fixtures round out this room.

Japanese-style ROOM (1F)

An entire wall covered by Kanazawa silver leafing, with 2 kingyou gracefully swimming across the length of the wall serves as the focal point. A small table, and cushion seating is also available for your comfort.


A fully functional kitchen is available during your stay. Stop by the local supermarket, or pick up some fresh groceries from “Omicho Market”– a bustling outdoor market selling fresh seafood, produce, and handmade delicacies.


A luxurious, and updated bathroom (bath & shower unit) is available on the 1st floor.

Japanese-style Room (2F)

Venture upstairs to find tatami-lined room that incorporates both a traditional & modern design. Colored tatami mats, and various hues of blue reinforce the image of this seaside escape.

Large windows allow for plenty of natural sunlight, and the attached veranda allows you to look out into the garden below.

A large wooden beam stretches across the ceiling to reveal the original wooden architecture, and spacious atmosphere.
